Two Words:

If she doesn't become well-known for anything else, Jenny The Bloggess should be famous for putting two words together to create genius.

Jenny started dealing with her own depression and anxiety by telling her readers that Depression Lies. Two simple words. So, so true.

Depression tells you that your life isn't good enough. That you haven't accomplished anything worthwhile. That you've made too many mistakes.

But Depression Lies.

Depression tells you that you're all alone in this world. That no one cares about you. That no one needs you.

But Depression Lies.

Depression tells you that you'll never be smart enough, successful enough, pretty enough, popular enough, skinny enough, rich enough, or happy enough, so you might as well just quit trying.

But Depression Lies.

I know this is true, because Jenny told me that her Depression Lies to her.

On the other side of the coin, Jenny introduced us to being Furiously Happy. "I'm going to be Furiously Happy," she said, when faced with yet another of life's tragedies. "Out of sheer spite."

"In fact," she said, "I'm starting a whole movement. The #FURIOUSLYHAPPY movement. And it's going to be awesome because, first of all, we're all going to be VEHEMENTLY happy."

(It makes me think of Clark Griswold: "We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles.")

And then she did it. She started a movement.

And now she's writing a book. It's her second book. And it's going to be called Furiously Happy. Naturally.

And I like Furiously Happy for different reasons than I like Depression Lies but I like them both the same way. Because she took something that people weren't already saying together, and she put them together, in an attempt to make people's lives better.

Everyone's. Not just hers.

Amen. Alleluia. I will join you in being Furiously Happy.

Even if it KILLS both of us. At least will be dead together.
