Powerlessness: Day 3

How smart was St. John's Coffeehouse to open across the street from the St. Tammany Parish Emergency Operations Center? You know that block's gonna have power.

For the record, we have a gas stove and a gas water heater. It's just too hot without air conditioning to cook food or take a steamy shower.

Yesterday we did get out and take a few photos though.

Tuesday evening: The yard is starting to accumulate water.
Rain is light and winds are gusting around 40 mph.
It's not so windy that Shelby won't go out in it. And she's a wuss.

Wednesday morning: Power is off. Lots more water.
Small branches strewn about yard and some limbs on top of the fence line.
Winds are gusting in the 50-60 mph range.

Thursday morning: Nice young men protecting my assets.

Bogue Falaya park just a few blocks from our house.

A church school in our neighborhood. The first floor is under water.

Tree damage on my street, about three blocks down.
