The high cost of Prostitution

I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong. I know prostitution is illegal (although I'm not really sure why, given that the government really shouldn't be legislating morality and consenting adults and all that). So yeah, he's the CEO of the state government and he [allegedly] committed a federal felony, yeah yeah.

I'm just saying, is THIS what our federal wire-tapping money is being used on? Prostitution rings?? Couldn't it be spent on something a little more...important? Like, I don't know...STOPPING TERRORISTS?

Also, I don't know who the Spitzer's PR person is, but if I had media-trained Mrs. Spitzer, I would have told her to do something other than read her husband's statement over his shoulder. Like make eye contact or look supportive. Also, looking HOT on camera is always good after your husband's been caught fooling around. Makes him look even more like an idiot. Like, "Whoa! He cheated on THAT?? Is the man STUPID?"

First of all, in my opinion, Mrs Spitzer was standing by the man she loved. She was doing the best that she could under these awful circumstances. If I was in her shoes it would have taken everything I had not to cry in front of all of those people. Most woman who have been cheated on would understand.

Secondly, as a NY resident, I am happy they spent money on this as I do not want a public offical committing crimes, especially the former AG.

Hey Kalisa,

I agree with you that prostitution - provided it is between consenting adults - should be far less of a priority for stings, etc.

As for the wife? All I saw were a couple of still photos and my heart still aches for her. I see such misery, heartbreak, and shock in her eyes. Like Auburn, I'm quite amazed that she was still at his side. She's probably still so zoned out just so she can cope. Tough road ahead for those two. I hope they can make it.

I agree with auburn kat; as a New Yorker (actually I think I live like 10 minutes away from her! weird) I'd prefer it if the public officials were honest...at least as honest as possible. At the same time, I don't think prostitution is a huge deal, everyone knows that it's no stranger to the world of politics.
I feel worst for his family...his daughters are around my age and that has just got to suck.
(PS--And I just remembered that he had the most annoying commercials ever while he was running. Just super annoying. That's all.)

See, and I just don't see why these women HAVE TO stand next to their men while they confess their sins!

I saw where Marlo Thomas said: "I think it’s painful to see these women, time and time again, be dragged out to these press conferences to stand there by their man. I’d think more of Spitzer and any man who refused to make his wife stand there in humiliation with him."

And I couldn't agree more. The spin doctors who make them do this are thinking of one thing only: making HIM look better in the eyes of the public. No one is even considering HER feelings. I think it's shameful to use her that way.
