I love that you called it a "fresh-water" beach. Living in Michigan and sharing the Lake with Illinois--all of our beaches are fresh water. : )
Living in the south and vacationing in Florida, we've only ever swam in salt-water beaches.
Unfortunately, the day we treked all the way to the North Ave. Beach, the lake was closed to swimming due to a dangerously high e.coli level in the water.
