Last night was the local PR awards, called Vox, which is Latin for "voice". A project I worked on last year was up for the "best of show" award. This is the third time I've been a finalist for this, and the third time I've walked away empty handed.
Ahh, well.
I'm disappointed with where these awards have gone, though. It used to be, what separated Vox from Addies (and others) was that they were based on RESULTS. They'll give you an Addy because they found your work to be creative; they don't give a shit if it actually worked or not. You could win an Addy for making a really cool commercial that never sold the first widget. But Vox was based on results - PR is about changing behaviors and Vox awarded campaigns that accomplished what they set out to do.
Not any more, apparently. The campaign that ran away with everything last night, while, admittedly, is a pretty good campaign, isn't even completed yet! There's no way they could have results! When they gave them the big award, they played a video of the judges talking about why they chose this entry, and not a one of them mentioned results. I find it supremely disappointing.
I did manage to put on a happy face though.

ERGH! I keep trying to comment and it keeps not showing up. You probably are moderating comments or something and I'm just multiple posting. LOL. (sorry)! Anyway, what a great picture of you! And have fun with your new blog. :)
Okay, I know you are NOT your hair and everything, but I love your bangs! I am quite sure that none of the Vox winners had bangs that fabulous.
No, Badger, they DID NOT.
